Admitting you want to make a million dollars is scary. Especially when you share it on the internet. And that is exactly what I am doing.
I am publicly setting an intention to make 1 million dollars in gross profit by March 15, 2025, by doing what I love and helping people. And I aim to do it all without the unhealthy hustle.
This gives me 365 days, 52 weeks, t-minus 8760 hours to turn what feels impossible into possible and probable.
I’ve never done anything like this before. Or come anywhere close financially.
In fact, my highest grossing year in my former career was somewhere in the ballpark of $120k and that was before taxes and expenses.
So why go out on a limb? Why share it on the web? What if you fail?
These are all great questions.
Why Set a One Million Dollar Challenge?
I’ve been aiming low and playing it safe most of my life.
For the past 39 years, I have followed the well worn path to the American Dream.
I made good grades in school, I went to college, I moved to a major city (NYC) and got a job in TV, where I proceeded to climb up the “ladder.”
Hustling my tail off, proving my “worth” to others, trading my time for money, and in exchange I have created thousands of hours of television for huge conglomerations and companies, who continue to pocket the profits while squeezing budgets, doling out low pay rates despite raging inflation and laying off those they deem redundant.
Past generations told us the 9-5 was the safe path to a good life.
They encouraged us to simply “follow the yellow brick road.”
I was a good little girl, did what I was told.
As a result, I found myself broke, broken and feeling stuck in a life and career I grew to hate. The rise-and-grind made me sick, emotionally dysregulated and burnt out. The money I did get paid was limited and controlled by someone higher up than me. Work life balance was a pipe dream, because the hustle culture always demanded more. And if I dared to say no, not comply or set a boundary, I was deemed not a team player by top brass.
Sound familiar?
For me, chasing the American Dream has felt like a race to a dead end.
I don’t know about you, but I think it’s time for a new dream.
One that is completely and totally our own.
It’s time to trade the rise-and-grind for the time of our lives!
My goal in making 1 million dollars in 1 year is not about the money, though making money will be fantastic.
It’s about the challenge of proving to myself that I can create a lot of money, helping a lot of people, doing what I love while designing a life I love without all the hustle.
A Life where I decide my destiny. Not society, my parents, colleagues, friends, naysayers or faceless internet trolls. Me!
A Life that authentically serves people in a real, lasting way that aligns with my values, my higher purpose and my heart.
A Life that isn’t dictated by fear, desperation or lack.
A Life without a glass ceiling.
A Life that I can look back on and be proud of.
I want to be a living testimony that you can live out your destiny, doing what you love, using your gifts and talents to help others and make a lot of money along the way. All while having fun, experiencing joy, ease, freedom and being 100% yourself.
THIS IS THE NEW DREAM.
THE ONE I AM BUILDING.
FOR MYSELF.
AND FOR OTHERS.
“Your legacy is every life you touch.” - Maya Angelou
Why Share Your Million Dollar Goal on the Internet?
Two reasons, accountability and the power of storytelling.
Firstly, by sharing my story online I am not only being held accountable but I am also making a record of my journey.
The ups, the downs and turn arounds. The setbacks, the failures, and the wins!
I can’t predict what lies ahead. All I know is my next level exists on the other side of my comfort zone.
I believe I am fully equipped to overcome the odds because I have faith in myself, a higher power and I’ve got a solid strategy.
I will share the real life behind-the-scenes of what it takes to go from 0 to 1 million.
Because often times, we see “overnight successes” we rarely get to bear witness to what it takes, day in and day out.
I’ll share the steps, feelings, hurdles, lessons and experiences with you over the course of the next 365 days.
What If You Fail to Make 1 Million in 1 Year?
I am fully aware I might fail.
I recently experienced failure, after I launched a Kickstarter that didn’t meet its funding goal. But instead of viewing it as major setback, I re-evaluated what worked, what didn’t work and I pivoted.
I opened up my own online shop and now I am slowly but surely making sells.
So the answer to the question is, I will persist.
Failure is the stepping stone to all success.
I will make mistakes, miss the mark at times and struggle.
But I do believe the better question is, what if I succeed?
Why Try to Make 1 Million in 1 Year?
Because of the person I will become along the way.
The One Million Dollar Challenge is pushing me to think bigger, aim higher and to start making decisions like I have never done before.
If I can become the kind of person who creates a million dollars doing what I love and helping people along the way, what else is possible?
It’s exciting, inspiring, and downright motivating.
I am sick of waiting around for one day.
I am ready for day one.
By setting this challenging goal and announcing it publicly, I move the finish line and deadline from far off to extremely close.
This goal requires me to shed my old self concept and take on an identity of woman who believes she can achieve her dreams one step at time. Plus it feels f*cking fantastic. Dreaming small has kept me small, and feeling pretty crappy for years. 💩
It’s about d*mn time to take a daring leap forward, aiming for the moon with the chance of catching a few stars! ⭐⭐⭐
What Are the Rules of the One Million Dollar Challenge?
You must write your million dollar intention down with a deadline.
You must create a strategy for the attainment of this money and take action toward it daily.
All money making activities must be honest, legal and benefit all involved.
The money must be made by doing what you love and helping people along the way. You must not rely upon unhealthy hustle or habits to attain the goal.
If you are met with failure, you re-evaluate, pivot and persist. You don’t give up. You try again. Keep going.
What’s Your Million Dollar Strategy?
I will make one million dollars doing what I love, which is serving people through my life coaching business, courses, speaking, writing and more. I will sell my beautiful Money Affirmation Decks and A Deck of Hope to people who will benefit from it’s support and encouragement. I’ll also maintain being open to other avenues of revenue that align with my values.
I have a simple, straightforward strategy that I have drafted up for myself. I will continuously take big and small steps toward the attainment of my goals.
Why 1 Million in Gross Profit?
I want this challenge to not only be about transforming myself from the inside out but about building a sustainable, profitable and healthy business.
I don’t believe revenue tells the full picture, and neither does the gross profit but it’s pretty darn close. I will use it as a measure of my overall financial results.
What’s Your Status Today?
As of 3/15/2024 I have made a gross profit of $271.00. Yup, I am practically starting from 0 on Day One.
